Work It Wednesdays: Going Dutch…and loving it!

Yoek is fabelachtig!

Hallo Divas!

While chit-chatting on Facebook, I stumbled on a contest being sponsored by a company based in the Netherlands called Yoek. They were giving away a fabulous Panther Bag to the 100th person to like their Facebook page.  I thought to myself; hmmm… Stuk van cake! For all my Divas with whom Dutch is truly a foreign language; that gem of a phrase means “Piece of cake!” For all my Prima Divas with whom Dutch is their primary language, my apologies in advance if there are any errors in my interpretation. 🙂 I’m still tweaking my Dutch c/o Rosetta Stone. 🙂

Well, of course, I liked Yoek’s Facebook page… and not just because of the chance at winning a fabulous gift, but, after I visited their website I was immediately hooked! I mean, Yoek specializes in full figured fashions that are absolutely prachti! 😉 I especially love their colorful and sassy Frida print collection. (insert dramatic fainting motion) OMG!

So, a few days later I received an email from Yoek congratulating me on being the 100th person to like their Facebook page, which meant that I had won the Panther Bag! YEAH!!! I immediately sent my info to Yoek to collect my prize, and shortly thereafter my package arrived (queue uncontrollable glee). When I opened the package, inside was a beautiful box adorned with a black satin bow. So so gorgeous!!!

Elegantly wrapped in haute pink tissue was my beloved prize… Now, I could never be sure, but I faintly recall hearing what sounded like cherubs singing as I peeled back the tissue to reveal my new gift. 😀

Now when I say this bag was huge, that’s putting it mildly. Let’s just say you could fit a small Peugeot in there, with room to spare. 😛 I felt like “queen of the jungle” with my new panther print bag! And you know that no diva can be within the immediate vicinity of  a shopping bag and not be tempted to use it; so you know what that meant…time to go “hunting” for goodies to fill it with! (*snarl)

But, before I set out to pillage the mall 😀 I had to thank Yoek for the wonderful gift. I immediately contacted them via email to express my gratitude for the lovely bag, and during our correspondence I asked if I could review one of their products. They said sure, and for me to pick an item of my choosing for the review. Of course I had my eye on their fabulous Frida dress a while back, so the choice was easy.

So, once again, I’m anxiously waiting for another lovely Yoek box to arrive with the dress. Once I received the dress I must say that it looked absolutely amazing!  The dress is inspired by renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Its colorful prints are reminiscent of her strikingly beautiful paintings, while the rose print makes you think of her signature flower decorated hair.

I couldn’t wait to show off the Frida dress at an upcoming event, and by happenstance, I was invited to several events that were taking place a few days later. This was the perfect opportunity for me to showcase this gorgeous dress, and I had just the right accessories in mind to compliment it. I decided to pair it with a bold red belt and a colorful bauble necklace I scored from Charming Charlie. And, I completed the look with my haute red “show stoppers” that I won during an intense bidding war (at the Heeling Diabetes Shoenista Auction last summer), which easily rivaled the likes of a Dave Hester and Darrell Sheets showdown on Storage Wars. 😀

Up first for the evening was Maudlin et al’s grand opening mixer at their fabulous showroom in Atlanta’s West Midtown Design District. The Frida dress, with its colorful palette, looked amazing against the eclectic décor of the showroom. You can see me and the Frida dress sashaying around the Maudlin et al showroom here.

Next up was the Naturally Pretty event hosted by Maeling Tapp (Natural Chica) and the fab Mimi J (P3 Lab) at Defoor’s Center in Midtown. I had a wonderful time at both events that night, but the Frida dress stole the show as I received so many compliments on it throughout the night. 😀

I love that Yoek offers very stylish fashion forward pieces for plus size divas like me! And, the Frida dress was not only eye catching, but the fit was perfect! Bravo!!!

Yoek brands their collection as both versatile and trendy and they’ve accomplished just that by creating pieces that compliment and accentuate the full figured woman with class and style.

Along with co-owner Chantal Smits, former model and founder of Yoek, Johanna Timmer, encourages women to “Feel good inside your own skin, and feel good in what you wear”.

Truly Inspiring words that apply to ALL women. Fabelachtig Yoek. Fabelachtig!!!
