Girls & Goals: Envisioning 2016 to #DoMoreThingsYouLove

Girls & Goals 2016

I am a firm believer that if you want something to happen in your life, you need to first establish what it is. You can’t just vaguely “wish upon a star” and hope something great will come your way. You need to think hard about what your goals specifically are, then take the necessary steps to achieve them – unfortunately not everything just falls into our lap. (I know… Total bummer, right?!)

But that’s why I really love hosting my annual Girls & Goals event, where a bunch of us major divas with major goals get together at the beginning of each year and create visionboards to help make these goals more attainable in our lives. You can make a visionboard on your own, but it’s way more fun when there are girlfriends (and mimosas) involved!

This year, we headed to Chateau Elan Winery & Estate in Braselton, GA, for a Sunday brunch. Three of my gal pals Candyce Nicole, Ally, Kiwi, and I arrived in style, rolling up in the 2016 Kia Sorento. And after chatting the whole way to the winery, we were ready to put our thoughts onto poster board!

We absolutely love the Chateau Elan Winery & Estate because of its stunning countryside and chic ambiance– ideal for our Sunday brunch Girls & Goals event. To begin the day, my co-hosts, Ally and Kiwi, and I asked our girlfriends:

What do you want to accomplish this year?

It might seem like a simple question at first, but it takes serious self-awareness to truly carve out some goals for yourself – goals that you can accomplish in a year’s time, no less.

That’s why we made sure that we all wrote down our specific goals. When you write it down, it becomes real. And for the sake of making a visionboard, it is truly essential to have goals in mind before peering at the pages of magazines – you need to stay true to yourself and your goals during the creation process if you want real results. And with your goals identified, then you know exactly what you’re looking for… no mindless flipping and snipping! 🙂

I also thought it might be helpful for me, Kiwi, and Ally to share our own experiences using our visionboards from previous years. Since some people can be skeptics or they simply have never made a visionboard before, we shared with the group our visionboards from the year prior and discussed how having these goals visualized helped manifest them into our lives throughout the year. It was also wonderful to hear some of our guests’ own visionboard successes from the past. Needless to say, first-timers were super excited to get started envisioning their dreams!

I really think it’s important to share in one another’s successes and lift each other up as women. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in how to succeed that we forget to celebrate others’ victories. Having a community to stand behind you, keep you accountable, and cheer you on is so crucial! And when it comes to 2016, I wanted these visionboards to set the stage for the rest of the year – a year full of doing the things that make you happy and feed your soul. So the motto for 2016 is #DoMoreThingsYouLove – let’s all use it to support one another in our journeys towards a great year, shall we?

Girls & Goals 2016

The Girls & Goals event this year really turned out to be fabulous. Perhaps the mimosas and delicious brunch buffet had a hand in our happiness, or maybe it was because we had some truly wonderful sponsors for the event. We had fab support from L’Occitane, Curls, SkinnyPop, Miss Jessie’s, Creme of Nature, It’s My Hair! Magazine, and DivaXpress. Not to mention the awesome swag bags and the giveaways!

All in all, everything was amazing. Everyone made great visionboards, and our venue and sponsors really helped pull everything together to make this year’s visionboard event a success. Heck, if this years’ Girls & Goals event was any indicator for how 2016 is going to go… I’d say we’re in for quite the treat!

Here’s to a fabulous 2016!!!

I agree that writing down goals are a must to actually achieving them. I love the added support you will get by having a bunch of people know what they are by having a get together to establish them. It looks like your get away was fantastic! I need to schedule one of these for my group 😉

Awesome! At the end of last year a bunch of us talked about doing this and it never happened. Maybe I’ll reach back out to my girls and we’ll do it mid year.
