My Fare Lady Macarons: French Flair with Southern Flavor

My Fare Lady Macarons

I have something to confess. My hubby is wonderful and all, but my one true amour is macarons. There’s just something about these sweet treats that get me so excited. Maybe it’s because I’m a dessert fanatic fiend, or maybe it’s because these adorable little pastries are a flavor-filled adventure in every bite. Yep… definitely the latter. (And only a pinch of the former.) 😉

Case in point: My Fare Lady Macarons. I recently attended a private tasting with the owner of My Fare Lady Macarons, pastry chef and self-proclaimed Macaronista Charlette Bell, who is very passionate about her sweet creations. You can immediately sense that Charlette loves what she does, and I think that translates perfectly into a deliciously decadent and unforgettable experience. My Fare Lady Macarons are rooted in a life-long passion, hand-crafted in culture, and filled with a heritage steeped in tradition. Charlette humbly attributes her culinary influence to her Grandmother who inspired her love for cooking which Charlette uses to harmonize people, families and cultures.

What makes My Fare Lady’s treats so special is that they’re different than what you’d expect from a typical French macaron baker. Charlette is adamant about infusing her Southern roots into these tiny confections, and she’s not afraid to take chances!

So, you wanna know which fabulous flavors I tasted? I thought you’d never ask. 😀

First up was the Roasted Pistachio which is a classic macaron filled with Pistachio butter creme, and oh so tasty. Next up was the Vanilla Bean Ice Cream macaron filled with a bourbon vanilla bean creme. Yea, I was all in at “bourbon.” 😛 Next in line was the crave-worthy Chocolate Espresso Mocha macaron which tasted like a dark chocolate brownie dipped in espresso. Yummy! Up next was the Red Velvet macaron. Need. I. Say. More?! 😀 Next I sampled the Salted Caramel macaron, and by “sampled” I mean completely devoured! The combination of salty and sweet made this marvelous macaron sooo decadent. Then it was on to the Red Wine Dark Chocolate macaron which is a cocoa macaron filled with an Apothic Dark Red Wine ganache. It was like a glass of glorious red wrapped in ganache-y goodness. 😛 Last but certainly not least was the Peach Cobbler. Yes, a Peach Cobbler flavored macaron! And when I tell you this baby sent my tastebuds back to my own Granny’s kitchen I’m not kidding. It was absolutely dee-lish! This collection of tasty treats was unlike anything I had ever tasted!

Charlette also mentioned that she’s mastered a Sweet Potato Pie flavored macaron that was inspired by the Lady herself, her dear Grandmother. I imagined that it would conjure up memories of family gatherings and holiday dinners. Oh, she also stated that she has a Collard Greens & Cornbread macaron that captures the essence of the soul food dish it’s named after. Can you even imagine what those flavors are like?! Well I can, and I want!!! 😛

My Fare Lady’s infusion of Southern influenced flavors bring a nostalgic feel with every delicious bite, and I absolutely love how they make you feel right at home.

If you want to take your taste on a flavor-filled adventure you must try My Fare Lady Macarons! Your Grandmother will be so proud. 😀

YUM! I absolutely love macarons but don’t treat myself to them nearly enough. I’d love to give it a go making them but think it would be difficult with a toddler!

I haven’t had a macaron in quite some time. (In fact, they called them macarooms the last time that I did.) The colors are great and it sounds like a nice variety of flavors.

Macarons seem to be making a big come back. Growing up I had never heard of these cookies. They were more for adults and mom always said these are fancy cookies. Love all the different flavors and of course the colors are beautiful.

I will visit! My mom loves macarons. I found a mail order company in NYC to send her some for Valentine’s Day and they were good, but not sure they were like THIS. Wonderful. I’m looking now.
