Meet Marsala, Pantone’s Color of the Year

Fashionably brought to you by Simon Malls

Hi SIMONistas!

Since it was selected as Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year, Marsala has hit the style scene with a spicy saunter. Once the hue was declared as the bearer of our year’s future, Marsala has garnered a bit of backlash. People want to know: Why such a subdued swatch? Will this years fashion offerings feature blah-filled styles?

Last year’s winner was vibrant and playful Orchid, and with moody Marsala following in the footsteps, it’s understandable that the comparison doesn’t fare well for our current contender. However, Marsala’s sad stigma should not carry over to the style scene!

In fact, this hue is the full-bodied flair our fashion needs. Marsala took to the runways with power, and there’s no sense in believing we can’t rock Marsala’s sophistication in the same unique way.

As such a robust and rusty color, it’s important not to let your outfit drown in mauve monotony. The key to rocking Marsala better than the rest is to either use it in the form of a cool accessory or as a printed piece. Breaking up the muted tone will make you the most chic and fabulous fashionista out there. Don’t listen to the nay-sayers; your wine-red year has much to look forward to! Sip on these savory styles that are simple to wear and bring a whole new light to Pantones’s 2015 Color of the Year.
