2016 Mazda CX-5 – A Sophisticated and Savvy SUV with Lots of Style

Mazda CX-5

It’s not every day a rockin’ new ride shows up at your doorstep. And it’s definitely not every day that said rockin’ new ride is stylish, safe and can fit a growing family of five! I know, it sounds like a dream come true.

But it was no dream. I was recently able to take the brand new 2016 Mazda CX-5 for a joyride to and from my errands and events around town… Yes, in real life! This sporty and fun Crossover SUV was the best sidekick I could’ve asked for; it had every feature you could ever want and more!

For those who know me, you know that my life is not exactly plain. In fact, it can be quite hectic. From meetings to mall trips, I’m always on the move. So it’s important to me that my vehicle is not only safe but can also support my on-the-go lifestyle. My 2016 Mazda CX-5 was the Grand Touring Edition, and boy was it grand! Like I mentioned before, I was able to comfortably fit my teens (and they are definitely “full-sized!”) in addition to my hubby and I. And being that this Mazda is a utility vehicle, there is plenty of cargo space to stash shopping bags or any other items I might require for action-packed days here in Atlanta. Plus, an impromptu road trip is just a key-turn away, because the car also has a killer navigation system sure to guide even the most directionally-challenged divas.

I had way too much fun scooting around in this sporty SUV with the sunroof down, enjoying the beauty of my city. And speaking of beatuy, the CX-5’s KODO “Soul of Motion” design captures the essence of poise and style and will have you looking and feeling like a celebrity as you move around town. Kudo’s to KODO! The CX-5’s EPA-estimated 35 highway MPG will have you and your wallet back on speaking terms again. And with a sticker price that won’t break the budget (MSRP $21,795), no one will know that you’re a budget conscious celebutante in disguise. That’ll be our secret. 😉

The 2016 CX-5 also comes equipped with lots of other cool features that kept me endlessly entertained. For example, Mazda’s Infotainment System (Mazda Connect™) let’s you control and customize your features with the twist of a nob. And for those that are social savvy,  you can send texts through Bluetooth®, stream music apps and podcasts through the Bose® surround sound, and if you get in an accident, your car will automatically call 911 for you! WOW!!!

I felt super safe knowing the 2016 Mazda CX-5 had Smart Brake Support (SBS) and the Close Proximity Warning. The Smart Brakes can sense if you’re headed into a frontal collision and will automatically apply the brakes if you’re distracted or unable. Another feature I found fascinating was the Lane Departure Warning (LDW), sending out beeps to alert you when you get too close to the road lanes. The LDW and Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) kept me on track as I ruled the road and dreamt I was winding the Pacific Coast Highway in this smooth SUV.

When it was time to say goodbye to my 2016 Mazda CX-5, I may have gotten a little emotional. We definitely bonded. I loved having a car that not only looks good on the road, but it supports a busy lifestyle and keeps you protected in the process. Huge hugs to Mazda for the testdrive joyride! It was Zoom-erific!

I love the sound of this car! Too bad they didn’t let you keep it! I understand what you mean: my family is always on the move too and it’s not easy to find family car that is comfortable + stylish.

I know, Eva…wish it could’ve lasted longer!!! (queue crocodile tears) Yea… my lifestyle demands a set of wheels that can hold its own and look good doing it. 😉

Looks much better than the 2015 version we looked at in December! Liked the style but the features were lacking for the price. Ended up getting a Honda CRV which I absolutely LOVE!

I hear ya Di. Not sure which version you tested but there were some major upgrades to the 2016 model including a host of safety features that my hubby got a kick out of.

I have the exact same car, though a few years older, and I love it. Who knew an SUV could have such style and pick-up.

Yes it is Logan! Mazda should change their slogan from “Zoom Zoom” to “Bling Bling.” 😛
